The things that set us apart

JPEG image-99A1448D7A77-1.jpeg

I’ve not written a creative story about my dolls adventures for quite sometime ….. some dolls lend themselves to a story and others are happy having some little mystery about them .

When these girls were coming to life I realized they looked very similar to a few of my daughters close friends….. at five she’s beginning to choose friends of her own and to see the love these guys have for each other is adorable.

This of course led me to reminisce my own childhood friends and the close bond I still share with a few…. one that is never quite replaced by newer friendships . That shared history is deep.

However the more I worked on these girls the more it stuck me of their individuality and uniqueness and I think I’d like to tell their separate stories.

I will also mention that I believe these to be the last of my ready to go dolls for quite some time. Over the next year I plan to concentrate on my custom list xx

Annie May

This girl woke at the crack of dawn eager to start the day….. unfortunately not everyone else in her house had quite the same get up and go!

So Annie’s morning antics were often met with hiding under covers and “go back to bed Annie!”

Annie was a little confused by the appeal of bed, and had never had much attachment to hers.

She dressed herself, pulled on her boots and pulled down her hat around her ears. Today was a day for adventure!

Her backyard was not huge but to Annie May it held a world of possibilities.

Next door lived the ferocious ‘maximus the terrible” otherwise known as Max the three-legged beagle. At the edge of this far off land there lay the realm of the pigmy, now you might be mistaken that pigmies were in actual fact, four clucking hens…..they are not.

She is queen of all this Land and all obey her rule! except felix, felix was the little boy who lived in the block behind. he would look through the fence at Annie wide-eyed and listen to her stories. No matter how hard she tried felix would scamper away and hide the second she tried to involve him. Of course he was totally in love with her !

Annie May with her wild hair and freckled face would use the days, encased in this world of fantasy and folly….and what better way to spend a childhood.

Annie’s fee is $495 U.S excluding shipping. she is listed lottery style so please contact me via my facebook page or at mapetitevie@icloud.com

She comes dressed with underpants, knitted alpaca leggings, organic cotton undershirt, the most do die for mustard overdress with pocket and leather detail. (snap back). Knitted cowl, knitted alpaca hat, lined wool boots.

Annie May is 12′ give or take and made with a new pattern. her knees and elbows have an internal joint to allow for a greater range of movement. she is double skinned so these joints are not visible. although these joints allow for a greater range of movement they do not allow positions to stay fixed like a wire armature doll would. She also has floppy joints at the top of the legs and arms. like all my dolls there is armature in her neck to allow for greater expressive movement.

Her features have been needle felted in wool and stitches are used to accentuate these features. I used pigmented beeswax to blush the cheeks and mouth (you will receive some in my dolls first aid kit for re-blushing should you need to). the body is stuffed firmly with wool. Her hair is wefted Angora goat hair crocheted into a mohair cap and sewn directly onto the head.

Thank you so much for reading about my little redhead!

Minnie

So having a wild and free spirit is of course something for celebration, we all long to have that freedom back and revel in it in others…however some children have a more reserved type of special and this is just as important.

Minnie is this child, her inner light was kind and quiet and you always felt a sense of calm in her presence.

She was not chatty, the words she used were always picked with care and said what she needed. She had few friends but the ones she has she held closely.

Her main interests were art and science, she draws the most amazing specimen illustrations , one day I’m sure she will be well-known for her skill.

She was definitely an observer and loved to watch the daily rhythm of her family, she had a small book and sat alongside the sketches of wildlife were little snippets that she had noted down about the coming and going of her brothers and sisters.

Minnie comes dressed in underpants knitted alpaca leggings, double gauze undershirt, double gauze dress with lace detail, a merino wool long-sleeved top and Hand knitted pom-pom shawl with shell button, and lined boots.

Minnie will also be $495 U.S excluding shipping.

Minnie will listed in my indiecart shop at 11am EDT 31st July.

Thank you so much for reading about Minnie.

Emmie Lou

IMG_4589.JPG

Now Emmie lou! my my what a joy she is! of course with her blonde hair and blue eyes everyone immediately assumes she’s a little angel…well shes not! she a little stinker! always here, there, and everywhere. she never listens and does exactly as she wishes. drives the adults around her potty!

The hot summer season is her absolute favorite, the freedom warm weather and long days bring. Emmie lou lives in the last house and the end of a small lane, not many cars come by except the odd tractor bringing fresh hay to the jersey cows that live in the fields behind. Emmie broke her arm once attempting to roll the round hay bale under her feet like a circus clown. Worst.summer.ever.

IMG_4587.JPG

Emmie lou LOVED summer berries and spent hours along the country lanes and in the bushes that separated the large fields picking the berries that grew there. They were mainly blackberries and sometimes if you were lucky enough you might find the odd stray Boysenberry tree.

JPEG image-BAF489C9AFA6-1.jpeg

This is how I see my Emmie lou, racing wildly over the fields, scratched head to toe, pockets full of ripe fruit, fingers and lips stained purple and the biggest happiest smile. that’s my Emmie.

Emmie Lou is 12″ give or take and made with a new pattern. her knees and elbows have an internal joint to allow for a greater range of movement. she is double skinned so these joints are not visible. although these joints allow for a greater range of movement they do not allow positions to stay fixed like a wire armature doll would. she also has floppy joints at the top of the legs and arms. like all my dolls there is armature in her neck to allow for greater expressive movement.

Her features have been needle felted in wool and stitches are used to accentuate these features. I used pigmented beeswax to blush the cheeks and mouth (you will receive some in my dolls first aid kit for re-blushing should you need to). the body is stuffed firmly with wool.

Her hair is wefted Alpaca crocheted into a mohair cap, and sewn directly onto her head.

JPEG image-F2DD90BC0688-1.jpeg

Emmie lou wears underpants, Tulle and cotton underskirt with a merchant and mills fabric dress and small heart button detail. over which she wears a short-sleeved woolen sweater, she has commandeered a scrap of fabric from my box which she declared as a bandana and refuses to take it off! she also has lined booties.

IMG_4594.JPG

Emmie Lou has a slight snag on the bottom of her foot (blackberry bushes are very prickly) which I have stitched up. As I double skin my dolls it is purely a cosmetic defect.

This is why I have decided to list her mmao style. If you think you would like to offer her a home Please contact me with your offer via my facebook page or at mapetitevie@icloud.com
